The Color and Brooke Nicholls are warming up to lead Albertans in Christmas celebration and worship.

Fresh off their No Greater Love Tour across Western Canada, these recent Juno-winners are in the midst of a whirlwind that’s not letting up just yet.

“We had a lot of fun reconnecting with people, sharing music from our new record that won a Juno this past spring,” shares Jordan Janzen of The Color. “Now we’re getting ready for this big tour with Brooke.”

Brooke Nicholls says that emerging after two years of lockdown, to once again lead large crowds of people in worship, has been amazing.

Having recently driven from Winnipeg to Grand Prairie in just six days, Janzen says he’s ready to hit the road again, teaming up with Nicholls for A Colorful Christmas Tour.

A Colorful Christmas Tour began in 2019, sticking close to home in Manitoba, but The Color always intended to take it across Canada. Now following COVID, they’re making a joyful return, with a bigger splash.

“We’ve partnered with Brooke several times over the years it’s been wonderful, she’s a good friend, she’s incredibly talented, and has a heart for Jesus,” shares Janzen.

“The Colorful Christmas Tour will be 12 shows from Alberta through Saskatchewan, Manitoba all the way to the greater Toronto area. At each stop, we’re bringing in local special guests. We’re really excited to partner together again, to bring the spirit of Christmas and a spirit of worship as the season draws near.”

Nicholls regularly leads people in worship but says the Christmas season and its music feels a little different than regular worship.

“It feels a little more traditional, but if you really dive into the lyrics of these Christmas songs, they really are very worshipful. What I love to do during the Christmas season is just remind people of the powerful lyrics that we’re singing,” reflects Nicholls.

“I’ve been singing O Holy Night for the last 30 years of my life, but I still need lyrics to read from. With Christmas songs, we’re not always paying attention to the lyrics we’re singing, so I’ve been really diving in to understand what it is I’m actually singing, so I can lead people in the same.”

The Colorful Christmas Tour stretches across four provinces, beginning in Alberta. The first show is November 24.

“This tour will be geared towards the whole family,” shares Janzen. “There’ll be so much Christmas music, some worship, and some of our own stuff.”

Janzen says they’re also making an effort to bring the community together, and part of that is including local openers.

“So much of Christmas is about community – bringing people together. It can be a hard season for some, so we’re hoping to bring a little Christmas joy to each stop on the tour.”

For this tour, The Color is teaming up with World Vision.

“We’ve been partners with World Vision for about 10 years now,” shares Janzen. “We’ve seen the work they do with our own eyes.”

A few years ago, Janzen says The Color had the opportunity to visit India and see the impact of World Vision firsthand

“We’ve seen lives changed, kids getting an education so they can move onto things they never dreamed would be possible. When we were in India, we saw what was happening from gifts coming from Canada and recognized that the impact is real.”
