I had a chance to head out on MIlton Road about 10 miles east of Lacombe to range road 25-1 to see the Central Alberta Growing Project in action. Now in its 23rd year this group is harvesting 100 acres of CPS wheat, to support people requiring food assistance in the developing world.

Vic Bergen and many other volunteers were out helping to get the crop off and then get the grain sold with the money going to Uganda. Joseph, who is from Uganda was also there, riding in one of the combines.

Last year, 160 acres of canola was grown with $117,000 in cash donations raised. With the 4-1 match provided by the Federal Government the project's value was actually $585,000. Vic said that you can also make a financial contribution if you would like.
