Update: Telus has confirmed that 9-1-1 Service has been fully restored throughout the Province.  The City of Red Deer has cancelled the Alberta Emergency Alert issued within the City of Red Deer and has resumed normal operations.

From Penhold Fire Chief Jim Pendergast:

"With Telus Mobility users unable to call 911 on their cell phone, Penhold Firefighters will be manning the fire station at 1091 Minto St. in Penhold to be there for the public to report emergencies.

Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said, "The public can drive to fire hall and report an emergency and firefighters will contact 911 for you and respond if appropriate. We will remain there until Telus manages to resolve the issues."

Telus has informed The City of Red Deer of an outage that is impacting the ability of TELUS MOBILE CUSTOMERS to contact 9-1-1.

If you require emergency assistance from police, fire, or ambulance, use a landline or head to your nearest emergency services station, fire station, or RCMP detachment.

This outage is impacting TELUS MOBILITY CUSTOMERS across the province.

If you require emergency assistance from police, fire, or ambulance, use a landline or head to your nearest emergency services station, fire station, or RCMP detachment.

This outage DOES NOT impact landlines. Landlines can still be used to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

This outage is only impacting TELUS MOBILITY customers. It does not impact other providers.

Telus is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
