The Sylvan Lake Gulls  will no longer be the “newest franchise in the WCBL”.

It was announced Wednesday that a new team by the Saskatoon Entertainment Group (“SEG”) will be joining The Western Canadian Baseball League (“WCBL”)!

The SEG is a leader in the Canadian sports entertainment industry operating the Saskatoon Rush professional lacrosse team as well as the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League.

Gulls President and COO, Aqil Samuel; “It’s exciting to see a group with the background of the SEG to be a part of our league. To have a team back in the great sports market like Saskatoon, solidifies our league’s claim of “Canada’s premier summer collegiate league”.  We are now in every major market in Alberta and Saskatchewan.  We look forward to working with the SEG in the offseason, and competing against them in-season!  Welcome!”

A quote from the Associate General Manager of SEG, Steve Hildebrand, offered:

“SEG really appreciates... the opportunity to join an already growing and great league. It definitely has been too long since Saskatoon has had a team and we are looking forward to bringing exciting Western Canadian Baseball back [to Saskatoon].”
