St. Martin de Porres School was made aware of a threat to the safety of staff and students today. Once aware of the threat, school administration followed Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) Hour Zero protocols, which included involving the RCMP.

RCMP immediately responded to the school, searched the building and did not locate any threat. RCMP are continuing to investigate details surrounding the threat.

“Thanks to the quick action of school staff to safely remove students from the building, assisted greatly with our determination that there was no threat,” said Cpl. Mike Evans, at Red Deer City detachment.

Students have returned to the school and resumed normal classroom activities.
