At 3:38 p.m. Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ponoka County. Another warning was then issued for Lacombe area at 4:08 pm.

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, toonie to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

This thunderstorm is located 10 km west of Bluffton, and is heading to the southeast at 40 km/h.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Ponoka Co. near Crestomere
  • Ponoka Co. near Rimbey Bluffton and Hoadley

  • Lacombe Co. near Lacombe Blackfalds and Bentley
