On April 8, 2022, Rimbey RCMP attempted to stop a stolen truck which fled the area. RCMP Crime Reduction Units from Central Alberta District and Rocky Mountain House were deployed to assist.

Thanks to witnesses, RCMP were able to locate and observe the vehicle. While officers were observing, the driver stopped on a rural road and exited the vehicle. Police were able to arrest the driver, a 38-year-old Wetaskiwin County resident, without risk to the public. Charges against the driver of the vehicle are pending.

“This is a good example of our officers adjusting our tactics and utilizing information from the public in order to effectively and safely recover stolen property and arrest those responsible.” says Cpl. William Hiscock of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit.
