The City of Red Deer is getting set to host a huge tournament this weekend. The 2023 Men's National Baseball Championships start tonight and will run right through till Sunday.

According the the Baseball Canada website, this tournament will feature ten teams, representing nine provinces, and the host Red Deer to compete for a national title.

The field includes defending champions the Windsor Stars who will be representing Onatrio and looking to win back-to-back title, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since 2016 when Tecumseh (Ontario) won championships in consecutive years.

The opening ceremonies will run tonight, starting at 6:00 pm at Great Chief Park, followed by a home run derby from 7:00 pm.

All games will be played at Great Chief Park on diamonds 1 or 2.

The host, Red Deer team will play their first game tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7:00 pm versus Ontario.
