The Red Deer River Naturalists are hosting a species count on May 27 and May 28th from 9AM to 5PM.

Central Albertans are invited to count species in their backyards, parks, natural areas, or even on rural roads.

All living things are counted including:

  • Flowers in bloom
  • Mammals
  • Birds
  • Reptiles
  • Amphibians
  • Spiders
  • Insects

Judy Boyd is organizing the count and has different zones you are able to count in. She will need to know what area you are counting in to avoid duplication. You can contact Boyd at 403-358-1098 or by emailing judy.boyd@shaw.ca.

You can find tally forms at the Red Deer River Naturalist’s website here.
