The Red Deer Rebels are excited to announce that another player selected at the 2021 Western Hockey Prospects Draft has put pen to paper with the club.

Goaltender Chase Wutzke, selected 40th overall by the Rebels in round two of last Thursday’s draft, has signed a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.

Wutzke, a native of Debden, Saskatchewan, currently plays with the Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League. The 6’1” 143 lb. netminder has nine wins in 15 appearances this season, along with a 2.50 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. He also suited up for Team Saskatchewan at the 2021 WHL Cup in Red Deer.

“Chase is a goalie who has really risen since the WHL Cup, he’s been a difference maker for the Contacts,” said Rebels Associate General Manager Shaun Sutter.

“He’s been their starting goalie and has been winning games for them. On most nights he’s their best player. “When you watch him, as a goalie you really trust him and really like his battle (level). He gives his team a chance to win every single night,” Sutter added.
