Red Deer hasn’t seen a children’s choir since the pandemic began in 2020. Red Deer Children’s Choir is hoping to return to the community.

The organization is hoping to teach children to learn to read music, learn some new songs, make some new friends, and of course, have fun! This year, choir will be free for kids aged 5-12.

Instructors include Denise Gagne, Lisa Ward, and Morgan McKee.

Denise is a retired music teacher and primarily a consultant for school districts, but still loves teaching kids. She has done workshops for music teachers in every Canadian province and territory, in all 50 US states, and in many countries.

Lisa Ward is an amazing choral conductor with experience teaching Lindsay Thurber choirs for many years, at St. Elizabeth Seton elementary school for several years, and was the director for Brioso, ihana, and Soliloquy choirs. Lisa brings a wealth of experience to the new Red Deer Children’s choir.

Morgan McKee is going to accompany the choirs, and will also assist with instruction. Morgan is one of Alberta’s finest jazz pianists and has assisted with many high school musicals for the past 25 years.
