If you're wondering what to do with your jack'o lanterns now that Halloween's over, Pet Value in Lacombe is collecting them for a cause until Thursday.

All pumpkins will be donated to the rescued animals at Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary in Stettler who will be feeding them as a snack.

Pet Value Sales Associate Cheryl Babiak says they must be free of decorations.

"They can't accept any pumpkins that have any paint on them, or any black markings or markings from pens on the outside of the pumpkins. No wax built on the inside or outside and no decorations what so ever. Just the basic traditional carved out pumpkins."

Animal Rescuer at the sanctuary Erin Deems says, the pumpkins help to reduce their operating costs.

"We've got six pigs and six goats. They like to eat the pumpkins just as a snack and we give it to them twice a day for breakfast and supper. It reduces feed costs so we are able to feed less and not have to buy as much if we can use recycled pumpkins."

The Lacombe Storage Center will also be accepting pumpkins this week and will be donating them to the Red Deer SPCA.
