After a 15 game record-breaking winning streak, the Red Deer Rebels have lost for the first time this season.

In their first of back-to-back games against the Winnipeg Ice, Red Deer lost game one 3-1. One of the reasons for the loss was specialty teams, as the Rebels went zero for six on the power play.

The Rebels lone goal scorer was rookie Carson Birnie who scored halfway through the third period.

The good news for the Rebels is that they have a chance at payback tonight in game two against the Ice. Following tonight's game, Red Deer completes a six-game road trip Friday in Brandon and Saturday in Regina.
