The Red Deer Rebels needed a win Wednesday night at The Peavey Mart Centrium to keep their season alive, but unfortunately fell short to The Edmonton Oil Kings.

After three straight goals by Edmonton, The Rebels finally got on the board in the second period with a goal by Jhett Larson.

Oil Kings player and Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Guenther, who had three points on the night, would score late in the second to put the Oil Kings up again by 3.

It looked like things were turning around a bit for The Rebels when, Blake Gustaffson scored a short handed goal at the 13-minute mark in the third, but it was not enough.

The Rebels were outshot 51-16 over three periods.

The Edmonton Oil Kings swept The Red Deer Rebels four games to none and are the first team to move onto the 2022 Conference Championships.

With 45 wins in the regular season and a six-game playoff win over The Brandon Wheat Kings, The Red Deer Rebels can say that they had a good year.
