Red Deer Rebels 3-Calgary Hitmen 0

You couldn't have asked for a better start to a WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final series.

In front of almost 5,000 fans at The Peavey Mart Centrium, the Red Deer Rebels shutout the Calgary Hitmen 3-0 in game one of their best-of-seven opening game.

Kyle Kelsey, stopped 25 shots, including 12 in the second period to give his team the win. The Rebels would end the game with 36 shots on net.

Not a surprise, but Rebel all-star Kai Uchacz, drew first blood late in the first period with what would turn out to be the game winning goal. Two more goals from Jayden Grubbe and Frantisek Formanek in the third would seal the deal.

Both teams would fail to score on the power play.

Game two goes tonight, 7:00 pm at The Peavey Mart Centrium. Games 3 and 4 will go Monday and Wednesday in Calgary.
