After falling 6-1 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night, the Red Deer Rebels needed a win Saturday to make their five-game road trip on a positive note.

Red Deer did just that with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Tri-City Americans. The win put their WHL U.S. Division 5 trip record at 3 wins and 2 losses. Oddly all three wins happened in a shoot out.

Saturday night, Frantisek Formanek, beat the Tri-City goalie (Tomas Suchanek) for the 2-1 win. Rebels goalie Rhett Stoesser was named first star after stopping 26 shots in regulation time and four out of five shots in the shootout.

The Rebels next game will be at home against Kamloops on Friday night at The Peavey Mart Centrium, and then head back out on the road to Medicine Hat on Saturday.
