It was another good weekend for The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings and Queens athletic teams.

The past week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team defeated the Briercrest College Clippers in a pair of matches. Outside hitter Tess Pearman, a Bachelor of Education Elementary student, was named the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game, totaling 16 kills, 11 digs, three assists, one ace and a block.

Chris Wandler, Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball Interim Head Coach talks about their play. "We want to keep our minds focused on the next execution and what our jobs are, and I thought that was done quite well this afternoon,"

A shorthanded RDP Kings Volleyball team split their series with the Clippers. They completed an impressive rally, downing the Briercrest College Clippers in five sets (22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23 and 15-10). First-year Brett Lower led the Kings’ offence with 26 kills.

"There were a lot of good things from our young guys," said Aaron Schulha, Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball Head Coach. "All three outside hitters were first-year guys to finish the match which says a lot about the depth of the group and a lot about the leadership against a team that is well coached and has a lot of fire power."

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team won the two-game series over the SAIT Trojans while The Kings Hockey team picked up a pair of points against the Concordia University Thunder.

The RDP Kings Basketball squad earned two road victories and Queens Basketball had a win and a loss.
