Starting Tuesday, August 4th, you'll have to once again pay for daily and monthly parking fees in Red Deer's downtown parking lots.

The payments were removed during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the City's initial response plan.

Paying for on-street meter parking was also restored back in June.

Reinstated fees for August 4th include:

  • Daily rates in City parking lots
  • Monthly parking fees
  • Sorenson Station Parkade re-opens to monthly pass holders (no daily parking available)

Enforcement of parking fees in these areas will also resume on Tuesday.

“This fee reinstatement aligns with many businesses resuming work in our downtown, and phase two of the provincial relaunch strategy,” said Erin Stuart, Inspections & Licensing Manager. “However, we do understand that not everyone has returned downtown, and there are still people working remotely, so we are happy to work with residents to do what works for every situation.”

Sorenson Station protocols:

  • Open for monthly pass holders only
  • No access for daily parking
  • The Sorenson Station will remain locked at all times
  • Monthly pass holders can enter using an access card at the roll gates and stairwell doors.
  • Pass holders for Sreoenson Station that put their account on hold will have their access card deactivated
  • If you need a new card, you can visit the temporary City customer service centre at the Recreation Centre.
