On March 18, 2022, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit partnered with the other RCMP units in the area to conduct an enhanced enforcement shift in Wetaskiwin and Camrose Counties. This shift aimed to increase police visibility, conduct prolific offender management checks, locate persons on outstanding warrants, and conduct several roadside checkpoints for impaired driving.

Throughout the evening, officers were able to locate and execute 5 arrest warrants, issued over 50 Traffic Safety Act violation tickets and warnings, issued 3 Immediate Roadside Screening Warnings for impaired drivers and recovered a stolen vehicle.

During one of the traffic checkpoints in Millet, officers stopped a vehicle and subsequently formed grounds to search the vehicle. During the search, members located property which was discovered to be stolen. These items have been linked to at least 11 break & enters and vehicle thefts over the past 7 months throughout Wetaskiwin and Leduc Counties.

Following the traffic stop, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a rural residential property in Leduc County, with the assistance of several other RCMP units. The suspects were arrested at the property and brought to the Wetaskiwin Detachment via a specialized RCMP transport unit. A search of the property resulted in the recovery of additional stolen items.

As a result of the investigation, the following persons have been charged:

45-year-old Bradley Blake of Leduc County has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime (X10)
  • Altering/Tampering/Destroy a VIN
  • Fail to comply with a release order (X3)
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Blake was brought before a Justice and was remanded into custody. He will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on April 7, 2022.

38-year-old Stephanie McIntyre of Leduc County has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime (X21)
  • Altering/Tampering/Destroy a VIN
  • Fail to comply with a release order (X2)

McIntyre was brought before a Justice and was remanded into custody. She will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on April 7, 2022.  

19-year-old Trazz Metke of Leduc County has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime (X9)
  •  Altering/Tampering/Destroy a VIN
  • Fail to comply with a release order (X2)

Metke was brought before a Justice and was remanded into custody. He will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on April 7, 2022.  

56-year-old Cheryl Johnson of Leduc County, was charged with:

  • Altering/Tampering/Destroy a VIN
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (X9)

Johnson was released on documents to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on April 26, 2022.  

The RCMP was able to recover several items believed to be stolen, for which an owner has not been identified. These items include a large assortment of keys. The Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit is asking victims of residential and vehicle break-ins in the Wetaskiwin/Leduc, and surrounding area within the past few months, to contact the Detachment at 780-312-7200 if you are missing keys.
