Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit and RCMP from other local areas have seized a number of stolen items on a Wetaskiwin County property on September 17th, 2021.  The RCMP were conducting an investigation into a suspected chop shop on the property. Following the search, 5 stolen trucks, an enclosed trailer, an industrial generator unit, 3 dirt bikes, as well as other stolen property were recovered, with an approximate value of over $100,000.

Charges have been laid against one male in relation to the seizure. 

31-year-old Chris Gilchrist of Wetaskiwin has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for Stolen Property over $5000 (x6)
  • Possession for Stolen Property under $5000 (x5)
  • Alter/Destroy/Remove a Vehicle Identification Number

Gilchrist was brought before a justice of the peace and was released on a $2000.00 promise to pay release order and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on October 12th, 2021.
