UPDATE: RCMP clear scene of fatal serious collision on Highway 814

UPDATE: 

Wetaskiwin RCMP and emergency services have cleared the scene on Highway 814 and Township Road 472. 

Wetaskiwin RCMP’s preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck was heading southbound on Highway 814 when it crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic in the area of Township Road 462 and collided with an SUV that was traveling northbound.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were declared deceased at the scene by EMS and the rear passenger of the SUV was taken by STARS to an Edmonton area hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were taken by ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital with serious injuries.

Wetaskiwin RCMP continue to investigate this fatality along with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.

Wetaskwin RCMP are currently on scene of a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 814 and Township road 472. There are reports of multiple serious life threatening injuries. RCMP anticipate traffic on Highway 814 in both directions will be affected for several hours while officers investigate the collision and emergency crews clean the scene.
