On Oct. 29th, 2021 Wetaskiwin General Investigation Section (GIS) members were on patrol in the area of Millet and located a Black Dodge Ram with a mismatched licence plate. Wetaskiwin Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU) member assisted in attempting a traffic stop and the vehicle fled from police. With the assistance of Wetaskiwin GIS, Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU), RCMP were able to locate the vehicle after it stopped in a residential neighbourhood in Leduc with the driver of that vehicle observed running into the passenger seat of a waiting vehicle. Wetaskiwin CRU members extracted and arrested both occupants. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Sawed off shotgun behind the driver seat. 

As a result of the investigation, the following charges have been laid against two individuals:

Lester Devon Acorn (36) of Millet, AB:

·       Flight from police

·       Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·       Fail to comply with release order (x2)

·       Drive while unauthorized

·       Drive uninsured motor vehicle

Collin Andrew WARK (58) of Millet, AB:

·       Possession of a prohibited weapon

·       Possession of firearm in motor vehicle

·       Possession of firearm without licence/registration

·       Possession of weapon contrary to order

·       Flight from police

·       Fail to comply with undertaking

·       Possession of methamphetamine

·       Possess break-in instruments

Both subjects were brought before a Justice of the Peace.  Lester Acorn was remanded and is scheduled to appear in court in Wetaskiwin on November 2nd, 2021.  Collin Wark was released on $2000 promise to pay release order and is scheduled to appear in court in Wetaskiwin on December 2nd, 2021.
