In Nov. 2021, Innisfail RCMP, with the assistance of Innisfail RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit(CAD CRU)  and Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team , entered into a controlled drugs and property crime investigation in the Penhold area.

On Dec. 23, 2021, RCMP observed a stolen vehicle in the Hawthorne area of Penhold. Soon after, RCMP observed the occupants of a nearby residence enter the stolen vehicle. Despite attempts to flee, RCMP were able to arrest one occupant at the vehicle and after a short foot chase a second occupant was arrested.  

Innisfail RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Service’s, obtained and executed a search warrant of the residence. During the execution of the search warrant, RCMP arrested 2 more subjects. As a result of the search, RCMP seized a number of controlled substances including, GHB, Oxycodone, and Methamphetamine . The investigation is ongoing and multiple charges are in the process of being sworn for:

Possession of property obtained by crime

Possession of break in instruments

Flight from Peace officer

Obstruction

Possession of a controlled substance

All subjects who were arrested, were released on an Undertaking to appear in Red Deer court on Feb. 16, 2022.

The names of the individuals can not be released yet as the information has yet to be sworn.
