UPDATE: 9:00 pm, June 25th

 Ponoka RCMP advise Highway 53 between Range Road 271 and 272 is passable in both directions.  Motorists are no longer asked to avoid the area.

ORIGINAL STORY:

RCMP, Fire and EMS are currently on scene of a fatal collision on Highway 53, between Range Road 271 and 272.  The road is impassable in both directions.  One person is confirmed deceased. 

RCMP ask motorists to avoid the area.  An update will be provided once the highway has reopened.
