It’s time to break out the big dress and wear it for more than just that one special day. The Kinette Club of Ponoka will be hosting a Resurrect the Dress Dance inviting women to dig out their old wedding, prom, and formal dresses.

“The idea kind of stemmed from the thoughts of the last two years without having a prom or without having proper graduation. We thought why don't we have a party that allows everybody to come out [and wear them]? Whether you're dusting off an old prom dress from the 70’s or whether you have one that you haven't actually been able to wear to your prom and then as well those throwback wedding dresses, whether you got married last year or whether you got married 30 years ago [we want to see it],” said Natalie Reglin, a Member of the Ponoka Kinette’s.

The event will have a DJ, a midnight lunch, and of course, some dancing.

“We're just basically going to have a good time and wear some retro, some new and some vintage dresses. Guys, we've said come in, jeans, come in, whatever you're comfortable with, but we’re just going to have basically a party,” said Reglin.

Single tickets cost $50 a person and you a can book a table of eight for $350 all of the money will be going towards local initiatives supported by the Ponoka Kinette’s.

“We're basically just looking to get back into putting some funds back into the organization so that we can do some great things for the community of Ponoka and building on some of the events that go on there,” said Reglin.

There will also be a silent auction in support of the organization at the event.

“The silent auction is basically going to be earmarked for our scholarship fund where we have done an annual scholarship of $500 a year. We are looking to expand that so that we can potentially honor more students with scholarships for post-secondary education,” said Reglin.

The Resurrect the Dress Dance is for those 18 years of age and older and will be hosted on October 1st at the Ponoka Legion.

Reglin says Ponoka Kinette’s are currently looking for new members. The organization meets every second Wednesday of the month except for in July and August. You can find their social media page, here.
