On Nov. 18, 2023, Chateh RCMP received a report of shots fired at a residence while an adult male and two children were inside. Chateh RCMP began investigating and, with assistance from Western Alberta District General Investigation Section (WAD GIS), identified multiple suspects.

On Nov. 24, 2023, Chateh RCMP, WAD GIS, WAD Crime Reduction Unit, the Emergency Response Team, High Level RCMP, High Level Police Dog Section and the Explosive Disposal Unit, executed a search warrant in Chateh. Four individuals were arrested inside the residence and 3 firearms were seized along with ammunition. A fifth suspect turned themselves in at the High Level RCMP Detachment a short time later.

On Nov. 25, 2023, Chateh RCMP located and arrested two more suspects in relation to the search warrant. One of the suspects was the owner of the residence and the other had a firearm on them linked to a firearm-related incident from Aug. 2023.

As a result of the investigation, Pamela Soosay (38), a resident of Wetaskiwin, Trey Littlechild (24), a resident of Edmonton, Travis Cattleman (31), a resident of Ponoka, and Kenneth Yellowknee (33), a resident of Slave Lake, Alta., were arrested at the residence and charged.

Austin Quintal (36), a resident of Chateh, who was also arrested on Nov. 24, 2023, Deborah Didzena (38), a resident of Chateh, and Jordan McLoed (34), a resident of High Level, Alta., who were arrested on Nov. 25, 2023, were also charged.

Everyone named above was charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available;
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm x 2; and
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Soosay, Yellowknee, Didzena and McLoed were brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. Their next court date is set for Dec. 20, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh.

 

Cattleman, Littlechild and Quintal are to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Chateh, on Nov. 27, 2023.
