The Town of Penhold has announced they will be hosting a pre-tournament game between Germany and Switzerland for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup on Friday July 29, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

According to Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau, “We have been wanting to host another Hockey Canada event since 2018 when we hosted the Finland VS Sweden game during the last Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament in Red Deer. We invite everyone to come enjoy an affordable night with their family and friends in Penhold while watching some great hockey.”

The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is being held in Red Deer from July 31 to August 6 with all tournament games being played at the Peavey Mart Centrium. “We are pleased Penhold has been given the opportunity to host an event of this calibre again,” says Yargeau. “I know Penhold fans will be cheering for these young international players as passionately as they would support any local stars.
