The Working Parents Benefit will see that parents who receive child care receive a one-time payment of $561 per child to help with the cost of child care.

In total, 108 million dollars will be going towards families who make use of licensed, unlicensed, day homes, out-of-school care, or preschool from April to December of 2020.

“Families are facing additional stress due to the pandemic and the uncertainty in the economy. We want to directly support these parents by alleviating the financial pressures they have faced this past year,” said the Minister of Children’s Services Rebecca Schulz.

Here are the eligibility requirements for the Working Parents Benefit:

  • Children must be in any form of child care including licensed or unlicensed child care
  • Families must have a household annual income of $100,000 or less
  • You must have paid for three months of child care between the months of April 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

Applications for the benefit start on March 1, 2021 and close on March 31, 2021. For more information on how to apply, click here.
