From the Olds RCMP:

On December 9, 2019, at approximately 1:30 PM, the Olds RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a local business.  The complainant told police that a Dodge Ram truck had been parked there for several hours and the driver appeared to be sleeping.

Upon arrival, officers determined the vehicle to be stolen from Red Deer earlier that morning.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested without incident.  He was also wanted on an arrest warrant and had outstanding charges for several other property-related offences in southern Alberta.

When searched, he was found to be in possession of weapons and what is suspected to be methamphetamine.

A search of the vehicle also revealed various other items of stolen property, including gas cards, registration documents and cheques.

Steven Andrew Shier, 39 years of age, of Calgary, has been charged with nine new offences including several counts of Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Recognizance.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on December 13, 2019.
