The dock at Ponoka's Lions Centennial Park fishing pond is being removed this afternoon (June 1) as it has reached the end of its lifecycle.

A new t-shaped, floating dock has been ordered and will be installed once it arrives this summer. The new dock will have handrails and an access ramp that makes it more easily accessible to people with mobility challenges.

In the meantime, fishing enthusiasts are encouraged to cast their rods along the banks of the Centennial Park Pond. The pond was recently restocked by Alberta Fish and Wildlife with about 1,000 rainbow trout. The new dock will be installed as soon as it’s delivered.
