Two-time Olympic Bronze Medal Soccer Coach John Herdman was this morning's guest speaker at the RDC Kings and Queens Scholarship Breakfast.

He spoke about his experiences bringing our Women's soccer team from dead last in the world ranks to a top contender, getting to coach the greatest female soccer player on the planet in Christine Sinclair, and what it takes to become great.

Herdman says it's important for people to step outside their comfort zone, in order to be successful.

"I'm not advocating for people to go out and be wild and reckless. But I'm advocating for people to be strategic around making those oh s*** moments, and recognizing that they're important for life. You know unless you're going to fail at something, you're not really going to learn from it."

Herdman also gave both student athletes and adults some advice on striving to be your best day in and day out, stepping out of your comfort zone, and stop making excuses for why you haven't accomplished your goals.

For those who missed it, Herdman summed up his message in one line.

"Keep being good. Be good on and off the pitch. At work and at home, and the universe will bring you the things that you deserve. I can attest to it, I've lived it. So be good."

Herdman says we don't need to strive for greatness each and every day, because it's just not possible.

But we can be good every day.

Scott Builders Student-Athlete Leadership Scholarships were also awarded to Volleyball Captain Luke Brisbane, and Cross Country and Track athlete Jordanna Cota.
