I woke up this morning, grabbed my travel mug and did my commute to work.

When I say "commute to work" I mean walking down the stairs to my basement studio. The travel mug is just so I don't spill on the carpet.

This has been my routine for almost two years now, since the pandemic hit in March 2020.

I will admit that I don't really miss driving on icy roads, or paying for expensive gas, but I do miss hanging out with our Sunny team.

Radio is one of those industries that draws in a very mixed bunch of personalities. I have been doing this since my early days in 1987 of a midnight-6 am show in Peace River, to major market drive home shows in Osaka, Japan and then back to Central Alberta with stops in Red Deer and now Lacombe.

Over my 34 years as an announcer. I noticed some things that never change, the great people I work with and really bad office pranks if you go away.

I remember making the mistake of booking a holiday on my birthday. I came back to work on the Monday and discovered that my whole office (including my coffee mug) had been wrapped in tinfoil. I can't imagine how much work that took for such an awesome prank.

We once taped the smelliest air fresheners ever to the bottom of a sales person's chair. He couldn't figure out why his office smelled so bad!

Another time at the old Sunny studio in downtown Lacombe, we blew up over 250 balloons and filled Darcy Stingel's office right to the roof. The only problem with doing that was the fire alarm that would go off every time a balloon would pop.

I really hope that we will get back to some kind of "normal" soon and that  your office is as fun and creative as mine.

Have a great day!!
