Applications for the Marilyn Sharp 4-H Scholarship are now being accepted. The scholarship was established by MEGlobal and Dow, which operate manufacturing facilities at the Prentiss located east of Blackfalds, in recognition of Marilyn’s longtime volunteer contributions as a member of the Prentiss Community Advisory Panel.

“MEGlobal is incredibly proud to participate in the continuation of the Marilyn Sharp 4-H Scholarship,” said Trish Thompson, MEGlobal Public Affairs Manager. “Marilyn has been a dedicated and valued member of the CAP, with her membership spanning more than 25 years. Her insightful questions and suggestions on behalf of site neighbors and the region made a lasting impact on how both MEGlobal and Dow have operated and communicated with our stakeholders. Marilyn has been a passionate advocate for both education and agriculture, something this scholarship was conceived to recognize.”

Last year, Wylie Pietch was the first person to receive the scholarship. Pietch is now a civil engineering student to who attends the University of Calgary. Wyle has helped to start up an Agriculture Student’s Club which aimed at helping rural students transition to life on campus.

“This scholarship has allowed me to continue to give back to the community while achieving academic excellence at the University of Calgary,” he wrote in a thank you letter to Sharp.
