Lacombe Police Service will be hosting their annual Charity Checkstop this Saturday, November 26th. They will be collecting donations for a couple local organizations including MADD, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Lacombe, Lacombe’s Santa’s Anonymous, and the Lacombe Food Bank.

This year, if you don’t have any loose change kicking about they will be able to take debit or credit.

“It's like just a little small portable machine that actually works alongside with our phones, and then the donation is whatever dollar choice you put in,” said Breanna Berthiume, Executive Director of Lacombe’s Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Last year, there were a couple of families who were unable to donate due to not having any cash. The organizations are looking forward having the option of cashless donation this year.

“We actually had a couple people last year who came back (with cash). Last year was my first experience with it and people just appreciated having us there and it was snowing really well,” added Berthiaume.

They will also be collecting toy donations for Santa’s Anonymous as well as food for the Lacombe Food Bank.

“We'll be collecting toys at that check stop as well and we're hoping we can fill some police cruisers,” added Crystal Zens, Executive Director of the Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services.

The checkstop will be happening from 1PM-4PM on Main Street in Lacombe in front of the Fire Hall.
