Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS) Lacombe is looking for a few donations for their Adopt-A-Family program. The program allows for families to adopt other families in need and help to fulfill their holiday wish lists.

“To date, we've adopted 38 families and matched them with donors in our communities. Today is the first day we started accepting the gifts from the donors so that we can start setting up and prepping for our delivery night to our families,” said Breanna Berthiaume, Executive Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Berthiaume says numbers are similar to other years where the program has been running.

“I think we're few families short, but our numbers are a bit higher. We're serving families with more youth and more children in them,” she added.

However, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Lacombe is looking for a bit of an additional boost for the adopted families.

“The biggest thing we're looking for is donors that would be willing to provide $25 or $50 gift cards for either groceries or gas gift cards. We have some families that are commuting for medical reasons. During the holiday season, it is a little bit more financially straining when the youth aren't in schools, so being able to provide them more healthy food options is where we're looking at right now for support,” added Berthiaume.

You can bring those donations to the Lacombe BBBS Bamford House or call them at 403-782-7870 for more information.
