The Lacombe Community Food Bank continues to receive a ton of support from the local community.

Recently, Fraserway RV donated $10,000 dollars to the organization matching the same donation they made in 2020.

The spring through to August is typically a tougher time for donation collection for local food banks but General Manager of the Lacombe Community Food Bank and Thrift Store, Millie Snow says these sorts of donations keep them in a good position to handle the challenge of the season.

However, what the food bank is in need of right now is food donations. Although monetary donations are always appreciated, donating food saves the organization the time in going out and shopping for food.

“Right now we do need a lot of food. We're buying a lot of like vegetables and other basics too. We always need flour, sugar, and that kind of stuff. Right now, we're low on tomato soup. We're low on vegetable soup and honey,” said Snow.

Snow estimates around 10 per cent more people are in need of food lately.

“People are coming in quite regularly now. We’ve had quite a few new people come in for the first time,” said Snow.

If you need help from the food bank or would like to donate, you can find their website here. They are open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 PM-4 PM, Thursdays from 6 PM-8 PM and Fridays from 1 PM-3 PM.
