Lacombe Fire Department, along with the aid of Bentley Fire Department have been called to several brush or grass fires in the Lacombe area.

The first call came in around 1:40 pm for a smoke investigation which turned out to be a brush fire on Range Road 2-73 near the Kraay Family Farm on Highway 12.

The second fire call came in at 1:48 pm for a brush fire on township road 412 and Range Road 264A near Central Alberta Pallet Supply. For the second fire, Bentley Fire Department was called in for mutual aid. 

The large fire could be seen from the QEII highway between Lacombe and Ponoka. It appears to be taking up a substantial area of land. 

There have been no reports of injuries or structural damage. An update will be given when more information is provided.

With the dry conditions in Central Alberta, The Lacombe Fire Department on social media today asked the public to be careful with fire pits and cigarette butts.
