If you want to visit Moraine Lake in 2023, you'll have to take a bus, bike or hike it.

Moraine Lake Road is now closed to personal vehicles year-round.

Parks Canada says their shuttles, Roam Public Transit and tour buses will only be allowed from June to mid-October.

According to the Government of Canada, traffic flaggers had to work 24 hours a day to manage the parking lots. They say that during the peak period over the summer last year, the parking lot remained full for nearly 24 hours a day.

They also say they will increase the number of shuttles offered.

If you plan on taking a pedal bike or e-bike it's a 25 km round trip.

The image of Moraine Lake near Lake Louise is embedded into most Canadians' collective memory as it was the iconic image on the back of the old $20 paper bill.

There are also some new parking restrictions for Lake Louise which you can find on the Parks Canada website.
