With the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team on their Christmas break and hitting the books for their final exams, they still found some time to lace up their skates and support one of their coach’s charity events.

Associate Coach Cody Reynolds and his company Lakeside Hockey Development partnered up with Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp a few years ago to put on an event to help people in the community that need some help for their children for Christmas. They decided to call it Hockey for a Clause Clinic which happens annually with the 2022 event being held on November 25.

This year several members of the Kings Hockey team and players from the Sylvan Lake Wranglers volunteered to run the drills at the clinic. In the end, they were able to put on another incredible event that saw 80 players from the ages 7-13 register for the one-hour skills session. There fee to attend the clinic is simply a monetary donation or a toy for the Sylvan Lake Christmas Bureau.

Reynolds was very pleased with how the fourth annual event turned out .“I am very proud of our guys for representing a great event so well. The players really enjoy being out in the community and thrive on it. We always have tremendous support over the years and looking forward to hosting our fifth annual event next year.”

The event raised just over $1,200 in cash donations and exceeded $500 in toy donations, which is a tremendous contribution to the bureau, explained Reynolds, who hopes to continue hosting this event for the years to come
