This Mother’s Day weekend, the Lacombe and District Historical Society and Lacombe Performing Arts Centre are putting on their first-ever Heritage Fashion Show.

Models will be showing off some of the Historical Society’s vintage clothing pieces at a gala event. The fashion show has been a couple years in the making.

“We've been working on that for two years with the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre.  We had basically completely planned and ready to go for Mother's Day 2020 and then with the pandemic we had to cancel it obviously. Then, we decided not to do it last year. We weren't quite ready and so now we're just going ahead,” explained Executive Director of the Lacombe and District Historical Society, Melissa Blunden.

The event will be held on Saturday May 7th and tickets can be purchased here or at the Mary C. Moore Public Library for $51.20. The money will go towards the cost of putting on the event and any proceeds will be split between the Historical Society and the Performing Arts Centre.

“We have 19 models modeling different eras of clothing from 1860 to 1920. It’s a catered event up there will be wine and signature cocktails. We're putting together an exhibit of our own artifacts on display that are all textiles from that era, so it's pretty big night for us,” explained Blunden.

There are also a couple familiar faces that you may see modeling the clothing.

“There's some pretty high-up community members including  some councilors that are going to be modeling and people from the County offices,” added Blunden.

Following the fashion show, attendees will also have the opportunity to experience the costuming up close and meet and greet the models and performers.
