The ghosts, ghouls, and monsters are coming to Lacombe to haunt the downtown area for 1st Annual Downtown Spooktacular event. From trick or treating, pumpkin carving, games, movies and more there is sure to be something for everyone downtown Lacombe on Thursday (October 27).

“We're just doing our first annual Spooktacular. In collaboration with Echo Lacombe, a few different business owners in the downtown business core got together to form a small committee that is bringing more kind of events into the core of downtown Lacombe. This is the first one that we're putting on, and Spooktacular is just to promote getting Lacombe and surrounding area citizens into the downtown and just having some small events for them to come to,” said Karlee Rennie, who is the Owner of 5024 General Store and acting as Communication for the Downtown Business Committee.

30 local businesses located in the downtown area in Lacombe will be participating by putting on special deals and activities for Lacombe residents and visitors of all ages.

“We've got pumpkin carving, there's also some movies playing, some crafts, some games and a barbeque. There's s'mores and fires. Each business is going to be hosting their own little event and then there'll also be some trick or treating and it's just a way to get people downtown and celebrating Halloween and into the Halloween spirit for the weekend,” explained Rennie.

She also says several local businesses will also be offering special deals and sales. Costumes are encouraged and optional. If you come dressed up you might get a special deal.

“We would love to continue doing this for years to come. The more participation that we have this year, the more incentive we'll have to kind of keep building on it and working on it for future years,” she added.

The event will be happening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. You can find a full list of participating businesses by clicking the link here.
