The Lacombe Generals lost just their second game of the year over the weekend, but still remain in first place.

The Gens lost to the Rosetown Red Wings Saturday by a score of 6-1, but got back to their winning ways last night beating the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs 6-2.

Generals Head Coach Curtis Austring says they made some big plays when they need it most.

"I still think there's still a little rust in our game here, and we still need to get some synergy back after the Christmas break. But still a good rebound game."

Austring says with just a month left in the season, the goal now is prepping for playoffs.

"Get more and more consistency in our game. I think the games will get tighter, and specials teams will be important in playoffs. So you have to be disciplined, and have to make sure that when you're getting powerplays you're able to score goals, and you've got to keep them out when they're on the powerplay."

That now takes the Gens to 14-2 with 26 points on the year.

Next action for the Generals is Friday night against the Stony Plain Eagles at the Gary Moe Autogroup Sportsplex.
