UPDATE, December 28th, 9:00 am

The freezing rain warning issued by Environment Canada has ended

BACKGROUND

Just after 7 am, Tuesday, Environment Canada issued a freeing rain warning for parts of Central Alberta and areas to the southern part of our province.

Freezing rain is occurring over parts of southern Alberta this morning. The freezing rain will slowly move northeastward out of the province during the day.

Even if air temperatures are above 0, some surfaces can still be cold enough for rain to freeze.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
