The Red Deer Rebels are excited to announce that Beckett Hamilton, the club’s first-round pick at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the team.

Hamilton, who hails from Humboldt, SK, was selected 18th overall by the Rebels at last week’s draft.

“I’m very happy. It’s a great place to be and I’m excited,” Hamilton said about being drafted by the Rebels.

“Honestly, I was really hoping to go to Red Deer because it’s such a great place.”

Hamilton piled up 83 points in 29 regular season games in 2022-23 with the Humboldt Broncos U15 AA. He added 33 points in nine playoff games.

“He’s a guy who has high end skill. He’s a high-end shooter and he can make what I call ‘wow’ plays. Whether it’s shooting or passing, you say exactly that,” Rebels Associate General Manager Shaun Sutter said of Hamilton.

“He has that kind of offensive ability, and he also has some grit to him, some hardness, which kind of matches up with what we’ve built our team around. But the key central part of his game is he’s a very good offensive player.”
