The Clive Athletic and Agriculture Society will be hosting their First Annual Bullarama on Friday, May 26.

We're planning on making it an annual event. It's a family-oriented night of fun. There will obviously be bull riding. There's going to be a food truck on site, there'll be a concession. Once it starts at 7:00, there will be a Calcutta," said Diane Krochak, Board Member of the Clive Athletic and Agricultural Society.

A cabaret will follow the bull riding event with live music and dancing.

The event which will be run by local volunteers is a fundraiser for the Clive Arena which is in need of upgrades and renovation. All of the proceeds from the event will be going towards improving the Clive Arena.

“We definitely have some upgrades that need to be completed. One of those is our ice plant facility. There are upgrades that are needed there. That's our most emergent need. Then we're also hopefully in the future going to be building some additional dressing rooms in the back and we have various other upgrades that need to be done,” explained Korchak.

The Clive Athletic and Agriculture Society decided to do a bull riding event as it seemed to fit both the athletic and agricultural aspects of their organization.

“It also happened to be right around the time that Alix Bullarama discontinued their annual bull riding events. We took over the same weekend. It just happened to be really good timing there. I think Clive has just been in need of a really good community event. All of those things kind of fell into place to make it a possibility,” said Korchak.

Doors open at 5:00 at the Clive Arena and tickets for the event can be purchased at Roosters Roadhouse, ATB Financial in Clive, and the Clive Village Office. They can also be purchased by calling 403-350-0767 or emailing cliveathleticag.society@gmail.com.
