From the Penhold Fire Department:

On Sunday June 9 just before 6pm Penhold Fire crews responded to a RV trailer fire in the Penhold RV park.

Penhold Acting Fire Lieutenant Bailey McKay said "the initial report came in as a RV fire with people trapped. We arrived on scene to a fully involved trailer, and talked to the owner who said everyone was out."

Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said the owner stated he was cooking and the oil spilled and started a fire.

"The owner went on to say he put the fire out and left the trailer to talk to some people, and a few minutes later when he looked back the trailer had fire coming from the roof." Pendergast said "it's very important that even if you think a fire is out call 911, the fire department can come out and use special equipment such as our thermal imaging and heat detectors to find hidden fires or hot spots and make sure everything is ok. The electrical hook up and water hook up both melted. One propane tank exploded and one had the valve open and was feeding the fire."

Damage is estimated at $65,000 for the trailer and $15,000 for the car. 3 fire units a command unit and support unit responded along with 18 firefighters, Public Works and Fortis.
