The Family Day long weekend  is here, and there are many events scheduled throughout Central Alberta.

Here is a list of things for you and your family to do this weekend:

City of Lacombe

Monday, February 20 from 1-3PM at the Gary Moe Autogroup Sportsplex

Free Skate at the Echo Energy Arena Ice surface. 

Town of Penhold

Friday, February 17th, from 6-8 pm on Windsor Avenue

  • Ice fort and slide building, games and activities, hot chocolate and s'mores, and street hockey (bring your own stick)

City of Red Deer

Monday, February 20th, from 1-4 pm

  • Family Day 70's party at The Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery with selfies, sketch party, disco, cake and prizes

Town of Blackfalds

Monday, February 20th, from 12 noon to 3 pm at The Eagle Builders Centre (5302 Broadway Avenue)

  • Free family skate in arena 1, BBQ by donation, ice sculpting demonstrations/lessons, DDO games, and family bingo

Town of Ponoka

Monday, February 20th, all day events starting at 10 am

  • Free public skating at the Ponoka Arena complex from 10-1, (bring a donation for the food bank),  Kinsmen and Kinettes Skate-a-thon to raise money for Ponoka Youth Centre's Summer programming, hot chocolate, cookies
  • Ice skating on the outdoor rink next to the arena, 
  • Ice skating on the trail at Lions Centennial Park (highway 2A and 54th street)
  • Free swimming at the Ponoka Aquaplex from 12 noon to 4 (bring a donation for the food bank)
  • Free drop-in access to the golf simulators at the Ponoka Golf Club(351946 Street) from 1 to 4 p.m
  • Cross-country ski trails at the Ponoka Golf Club.The starting and finishing point is down below the main parking lot near the member cart shed.
  • .Tobogganing at the Tom Hamilton Memorial Hill, located in the southwest corner of Froman Industrial Park behind Siding 14 Brewery on 36 Avenue.
  • Exploring and taking a stroll along the walking trails in Ponoka’s Battle River Valley 

Town of Sylvan Lake

Friday February 17th to Monday February 20th, along Lakeshore Drive

A weekend of winter fun for the whole family, with on lake activities, The Big Jig Ice Fishing Tournament, Poutine Fest, Fireworks and more
