Just after 3:30 pm, Tuesday, Environment Canada issued an Extreme cold warning for many parts of Central Alberta including Lacombe, Red Deer,  and Ponoka Counties.

The forecast is calling for extreme cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 to develop tonight in some areas.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
