From the Penhold Fire Department:

On Friday, October 4 at 04:25 am, Penhold firefighters responded to a structure fire on Robinson Ave. in Penhold.

Penhold Fire Captain Josh Wilson."We arrived to find a 3 story apartment building. People evacuating told us that there was smoke coming from the laundry room. Wilson went onto say that crews entered the laundry room and attacked a dryer fire."

Penhold Fire Chief Jim Pendergast. "We had the fire under control in minutes and had crews checking to make sure all residents were evacuated.

Pendergast said that we had crews rescue several pets and return them to their owners. He said the fire was in a dryer and we removed the dryer to the outside and set up ventilation to remove all the smoke and products of combustion.

Damage is estimated at about $5000.

There were no injuries and 4 fire units 17 firefighters and a command vehicle and EMS responded.

Fire crews remained on scene until after 7 am.
