Today (June 21) is National Indigenous Peoples Day and there are a couple of ways to celebrate the history, culture, art, contributions, and achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people locally. 

National Indigenous Day Red Deer Virtual Celebrations 

The Red Deer Native Friendship Society is hosting an online event starting at 11:00 AM. The organization has also put together a scavenger hunt.

Bannock Making Kits at Ponoka Jubilee Library

The Ponoka Jubilee Library will providing Bannock Making Kits while supplies last. You can pick one up at the library. 

 

BGC Westakiwin’s virtual National Indigenous Peoples Day

BGC Wetaskiwin will also be offering an online event which will feature a smudging, performance by the Red Deer Native society, a dance by the Yellow Buffalo Woman and Damien Omeasoo. The event starts at 3:45 PM today.
